Eat.Drink.& Be Married.

23 days. 23 days until my sister marries her best friend (besides me, of course). 23 days until my sister changes her last name from Hill to Burse.  23 days and my sister will no longer be Ms., but Mrs. 23 days until my sister goes from daughter/sister/friend to daughter/sister/friend/WIFE. 23 days....wow.  So many thoughts have crossed my mind these past few weeks.  For the sake of tears, I'll save those thoughts for my toast!

The past few weeks have been very busy, stressful at times, but nonetheless...FUN! I wouldn't trade a minute of it..puffy eyes, headaches, cast, and all.

On August 25th Creston & Nakeitra had a couples shower in Jackson, MS.  I owe ALL props to Creston's mom and sisters...they did an AMAZING job with the set up and food.  Guests traveled from near and far to shower these two love birds with gifts for their life together.  I think it's safe to say they pretty have EVERYTHING they may possibly need...and the wedding isn't even here yet!! How blessed are they??

How cute is this favor?

LOVED this cake!

Now, after the lovely couple received all of their gifts from guests in Jackson, the bride-to-be traveled to Corinth for one more shower!  Thanks to all the ladies of the church, family, and friends who helped make this day nothing short of special.  We ate, drank, laughed, played games, and simply enjoyed each other's company.  We kicked the men to the curb and had an afternoon with the ladies.  Once again, Nakeitra received more than enough gifts...tremendously blessed.

You can't have a southern bridal shower without mason jars and sweet tea!
Showered with gifts...literally!

Take time to smell the flowers

To my wonderful readers,

This seems to be a trend...post...few weeks pass...another post...so on and so forth. I regret to inform you that it will probably stay this way, however, I will try my best to update you more often. These past 2-3 weeks have been extremely busy. Like, when I say busy I mean waking up one morning, flying out the next, working a summit, going to class after that, planning & traveling for bridal showers, doing schoolwork, oh and did I mention I have on a walking boot?! Whew! These past few weeks led me to this post ;take time to smell the flowers.

Oftentimes we get so stressed out with duties/tasks that are asked of us, that we forget to take care of self. Don't get me wrong, as long as I'm able to travel and be there for family and friends I will do so! My family is everything to me, and I know the feeling is mutual. I don't know about you, but when I get stressed, all kinds of things start happening.  For example, my face breaks out, I get migraines, I get muscle spasms, etc. bottom line is....stressing is no good for me. Now, I am working on ways to reduce the stress in my life, however, some things are inevitable and when the inevitable happens, you gotta roll with the punches.

On my recent business trip to MyrtleBeach, SC, I had the chance to reflect on a few things. I was able to sit on the balcony and take in the beauty of the beach. Blue skies...clear water, crisp air, ahhh I wish I were still there! It's amazing when we "take time to smell the flowers". God wants us to enjoy it all! Do you get so caught up in the hustle & bustle of life that you forget to smell the flowers? If so, I encourage you to slow down. Sure, some things are urgent and need to be taken care of, but other things can wait. I don't believe I was placed on this Earth to stress day and night about things that are out of my control...& you werent either. Life is precious. Each day I hear about someone who is "gone too soon". All of our days are numbered, and I want mine to be well spent.

I guess I said all that to say this...cherish your life. Do what you can, and save the rest for later. Don't stress over menial tasks. Be careful not to get so caught up in the world that you forget to smell the flowers. God placed us here to make an impact, & he also made us smart enough to know when enough is enough.

Do what works for you. If you must shut your phone off, do it. If you must take a personal day to do nothing, do it. Take time for YOU!

Until next time,
t. RAE :)
