YES OR NO

Sooo, I have been contemplating on this post because of the controversy it may cause.  However, I am not here to tell you how to vote, I'm here to ASK that you do your research before heading to the polls.  For the past few weeks, I have been researching several websites trying to find unbiased information on Amendment 26. Needless to say, the subject is still unclear.  The way the Amendment is stated makes it very ambiguous (or maybe I'm just slow).
Initiative #26
“Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Mississippi:
SECTION 1. Article III of the constitution of the state of Mississippi is hearby amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION TO READ:
SECTION 33. Person defined. As used in this Article III of the state constitution, “The term ‘person’ or ‘persons’ shall include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof.”

THIS is what you will see on the ballot

Should the term 'person' be defined to include
every human being from the moment
of fertilization, cloning, or the equivalent thereof?
YES OR NO

This is just not clear to me!  No fine print...just a simple yes or no.  If you do little to no research and go to the polls, most would mark yes. BUT, what are the underlying details?  How will this affect physicians?  How will it affect women who may suffer from a miscarriage?  What about rape victims?...will they have a choice?  Will it ban the use of contraceptives?  Mississippi finds itself in a dire situation when it comes to teen pregnancy and sexual health. According to Mississippi First, the teen birth rate is the highest in the nation, at 64.1 births for every 1,000 teenage (15- to 19-year-old) girls. Mississippi also leads the nation in teen infection rates for several sexually transmitted diseases. In a state where the lack of sex education has perpetuated the cycle of teen pregnancy, limiting women’s access to methods of contraception can only worsen the situation.
What about stem research? This could potentially help find a cure for the atrocious disease we call....cancer.  It is not just aborted fetuses that are used.  Some people donate their still borns to science, and in some cases umbilical cord blood from live births can be used for research.

Again, I am in no way telling or asking you to vote a certain way.  I am simply asking that you do your research! Spread the word...tell your family and friends because this could potentially affect YOU!
I do believe you can be pro-choice and and against this Amendment.

Until next time,
XOXO

MY SISTER IS ENGAGED!!!

Sooo, I was sitting at work on what seemed to be the longest Friday in life. I get this phone call to my private line...I see Keitra's number and I'm thinking "what does she want".  I answer the phone and what does she say??.............................................."I'M ENGAGED!!!!!!!!" Yes, you heard right...my sister is engaged to the love of her life and I am not sure if I have ever been happier.  Like I have been so spastic I can barely focus on the task at hand.  Creston proposed in such a unique way! I'm dying to tell you all but I'll wait until she starts a blog....it will be 10x better coming from the bride:)

This is like the most beautiful ring EVER....bling!!!!
She has love allllll over that face

But in all honesty, I am so happy for Creston and Nakeitra.  I know Creston will be an awesome addition to our family.  In the 5 years I have known him, we have never had a bad moment. He is a true example of a MAN. If I had to choose a guy for my sister to marry....I would pick someone God-fearing, goal oriented, a sense of humor, someone who was raised to respect a lady and know his role as a man....I would pick Creston Burse. (Gah I can't believe I'm saying all these nice things about him ...gag!)  I know Keitra will make a beautiful bride because she is truly a beautiful woman, inside and out.  I'm not saying this because she is my sister (well maybe I am) but Keitra has really been my inspiration.  She once told me "When you put your trust in God and start living right, all other things will fall in place." As I step back and look at her life, professionally and personally, I see this statement.  She has accomplished so much at such a young age...well not so young now :) LOL! I now have full faith in the saying "patience will pay off" because it truly has for her.  I've truly said truly way too many times......

Very old pic but one of their firsts of many..iLOVE it

Now I have never been married, nor have I planned a wedding...but I can image it's about to get verrrrry hectic and stressful. I already know she is going to be a bridezilla so I may as well get ready!  I told her if she gets too crazy I will drop out of the wedding hahahaha. Of course I would never do that!  This is a once in a lifetime experience (well it better be) and I want her to cherish every.single.moment.  It's all about you sis!  You are about to embark on a journey that many of us have dreamt (isn't that the correct tense?) of since childhood.  I am soooo excited and I'm here to help every step of the way.  I'm sure there will be some nights when I want to jump out of my 2nd story window, but I'll deal :)  So let the wedding planning, wine sipping, late night calling and texting until you walk down the aisle and say "I do" begin.

Until next time...
XOXO
