November 8: Thankful for my mama!

November 8: Today I am thankful for my mother as she celebrates 50 years of life!  If you have met my mother, you know she is truly ONE.OF.A.KIND. As a child I watched her cook, clean, and take care of basic household duties without one complaint.(well sometimes haha)  As a teen, I was able to see what parenting was all about.  Between my hormonal teen age years and the birth of my baby brother, she was probably ready to pack up and move to Alaska...but we made it!!! And as an adult, I am able to reflect on the childhood memories and really appreciate the sacrifices she made.

I'm sure things weren't always easy, but you better believe we never knew it.  My sister and I were WELL taken care of and I salute her for that.  I have watched my mom take care of several family members in their last days.  I often wonder why God places her there, but I think I fully understand now.  My mom has such a genuine spirit.  It's something about her presence that literally calms you instantly.  And for those reasons, I do believe God is strategic when he calls our loved ones home.

Mama,
These past 24 years of my life have been nothing short of amazing.  I am SO thankful that God chose you to be my mother...and I know you're glad to have a daughter like me! LOL!  You have been the perfect example.  Sometimes I wish each young lady could borrow you just for one day so they can experience all this greatness!  Thank you for the many sacrifices you made to ensure that ALL of our needs and WANTS were met! We don't tell you enough, but you are definitely appreciated.  Thank you for instilling in us morals and values that we will forever hold true to.  Thank you for fussing at us on Sunday mornings, making sure we made it to Sunday School on time.  Because of this, we made the personal decision to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior.  Thank you for the countless nights you rushed home from World Color to check on your "baby girl" and her aching stomach.  Thank you for attending each basketball and football games, as well as cheer competitions.  You are truly our #1 fan and it makes all the different to look into the stands and see someone you love cheering for you.  I'll thank you for the many football, soccer, baseball, and basketball games you attend for baby brother as well! I know he appreciates it (even though he forgot your bday was today).

You see, these are all things that you did simply because you are a mother. However, these are all things that we appreciate, cherish, and we will NEVER forget.  Today is your day, mama! Let the top down. Live it up! 50 never looked so good!

Love your baby girl,
Toy
